Paper plate spider web craft for kids

Were back again with another Halloween craft and I must admit that I absolutely love this paper plate spider web. We sat and made ours whilst we were watching one of my sons favourite movies and it was just such a fun craft to relax with and to make slowly. We can’t wait to decorate the house with all of our handmade Halloween decorations and my little guy is already trying to pick out his costume (scooby doo is the favourite at the moment!). This little craft is one of our favourites so far and we just love how they look hanging in the window, why not give it a try with your child!

Heres what we used

  • Paper plate
  • Hole punch
  • White yarn
  • Black card
  • Pipe cleaners
  • Sticker eyes
  • Scissors
  • Glue/tape

How to make our paper plate spider web craft

Cut a large circle out from the inside of the paper plate, leaving just enough edge to punch the holes.

Use your hole punch to make several similarly spaced holes around the inside of the paper plate.

Now take a long length of yarn and sellotape one end to the back of the paper plate. Take the other end and begin threading it in and out of the holes in your paper plate. Ask your child to either follow a pattern of going from one side to the other or thread it at random as my little one did. Once each hole has been threaded tape the end down on the back of the plate as you did the first one.

Now its time to make your spider! Cut out a large circle from some black card and then stick on eight equal pipe cleaner lengths to the back of it for legs. Then finish off your spider by giving him two eyes and adding him to your web by either gluing him on or tucking him into the yarn.

To hang your spider web simply punch a hole at the top and tie some string through it and into a loop. Your paper plate spider web is finished! Aren’t they fab?
